The wildflowers are blooming everywhere and this little spot was across from our campground so I had time for one more painting before coming home.

Honored once again with an award at the Steelville Plein Air Event.  A hot humid sunny day was in store for us and I was in the full sun to paint these bales.  I couldn't pass them up though so I toughed it out.  I had company for most of the time with a friendly stray dog that came by.  She mostly laid down next to my easel and just kept watch.   A nice time for both of us.

3rd Place Award

I was honored to receive 3rd place for my painting.  It was a challenge to find a subject that spoke to me on this morning of the event.  It was misty and rainy so I chose to paint from the park shelter.  The rain was off and on and the light was soft.  When I saw this area at the edge of the lake I liked the pattern it made and the soft greens.

A steady drizzle kept me under shelter.  Luckily I had this lovely bush as a subject.  It was so quiet and peaceful that I had a young doe stop and watch me intently for awhile.  If I'd known she would stop that long I would have tried to put her in the picture.  These are the special moments when painting plein air.
