"Busch's Spring"
8x10 plein air oil

Yesterday was the Paint Webster annual plein air event. I chose to paint the spring near Blackburn Park because of the historical significance to my family. My grandmother's childhood home was on a farm in this immediate area and this spring was their water source. I have a photo from the 1880's that shows some of the children standing on the top of the spring and amazingly it looks nearly unchanged today. It's a bird sanctuary now and part of Blackburn park in Webster Groves.
At the award reception for the event, I was happy to receive the "Urban Senior Award" and this painting will be on show at the Old Orchard Gallery until May 18th.
