Eclipse day!

 Jefferson Barracks 

Drawing during the eclipse! When the peak occurred the sky got darker and the headstones got lighter. All was quiet except for the distant sound of bagpipes playing. A very moving moment!

I love this time of day, late afternoon, early evening, being out in nature.  No matter where you are the light is just starting to get that magical feeling that descends before twilight.

Painted from a drawing I did on site.  In some ways it's very difficult to paint from a drawing and in other ways it's better than using a photo because it forces me to remember the day and gives more freedom to express those memories of that time and experience.  I hope to paint more from my drawings in the future.  I think drawing skills will always improve painting skills.  Just my experience.
